Juicy Duroc pulled-pork… Fresh Olathe corn on the cob, picked just that morning… Tony’s own baked beans… These were just a few of the delicious foods that drew guests to Tony’s on Dry Creek this weekend.
Over 400 people attended Tony’s Meats & Market’s first ever whole hog roast on Saturday, July 15th. Guests could enjoy a plated lunch consisting of a Duroc pulled-pork sandwich, three sides, and a drink.
Even though lunch was set to be served starting at 11:00am, there were hungry guests lined up and waiting (in the rain!) at 10:30am. The line stayed long throughout the event, but that didn’t deter hungry customers from getting a quality, homemade lunch. A group of bicyclists that were riding past and decided to stop in for lunch because, “it smelled too good to pass up!”
Team Tony’s meat buyer, Stefan, had set up shop at 4:00am to get the hogs smoked in time for lunch. Throughout the day, Stefan stayed glued to the large smoker out front, checking on his hogs, pork butts, and corn.
The Duroc pulled-pork used in the sandwiches was pulled just a few feet away by Stefan. Children and adults of all ages gathered around his table to watch him work, ask questions, and take pictures. Some even walked away with samples!
Danny Rosacci, the Tony’s Meats & Market CEO, couldn’t stay away, either. He spent his day among the customers, giving them hearty samples of our Duroc pulled-pork along with samples of Tony’s BBQ sauces.
Our HR team even hosted a career fair at the Hog Roast, meeting customers and showing them the spirit of Tony’s Meats & Market. The HR team helped with handing out samples of our Tony’s cookies and Rocky Mountain Soda Company’s top flavors.
Saturday was truly a Team Tony’s event.
At the end of the day, nobody had left Tony’s on Dry Creek hungry. Several customers purchased extra of their favorite sides to bring home and even more purchased extra pulled-pork.
