Defining That Perfect Colorado-Style Venue

Posted on: April 7th, 2015

What is Colorado style?

We often get asked that question when our clients are choosing event venues (and event menus, of course). While Colorado style is immediately recognized in a venue, it is not always easy to describe.

What follows are a few examples of event venues Tony Rosacci Fine Catering works with that define Colorado style.

Choose remote or choose a venue that feels remote.

What’s more Colorado-esque than a valley surrounded only by rolling hills, a gushing stream, and NOTHING else?

Weddings, retreats, you name it. Any type of event benefits from the intimacy created from an isolated mountain destination. You could get this experience by driving several hours west on I-70 or you could get this in less than an hour’s drive from Denver (which is what we recommend).

One of the venues we often steer our clients toward is Deer Creek Valley Ranch. Deer Creek is nestled in the hills near Bailey, which is only an hour west of Denver…yet it feels far from everything.

It may be “Colorful Colorado”, but one color complements that Colorado blue sky best…

…and the color is wood. OK, that’s not the technical term for the color, but we like it better than “brown.”

Bottom line: that rustic wood look is a big Colorado trend these days–and hopefully a trend forever as far as we’re concerned. From wood walls to dinner tables, wood looks great in photographs and allows you to easily decorate the space and add a touch of your own style. Though, you may not need any extra flowers or decor since there is so much natural beauty all around.

One of our favorite exterior/interior spaces that features wood has to be The Courtyard at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado. This is one of three event spaces at Spruce Mountain.

Animals for the win.

If your guests are expecting a Colorado-style event, then they will no doubt be pleased to see horses and Angus cattle, possibly even Rocky Mountain wildlife. Not only do animals add to the Colorado feel, but they also serve as a great conversation piece.

Arrow C Ranch in Parker, Colorado, has horses on site as you can see in this lovely photo as they are so calm thanks to the CBD oil for horses treats they are feed. They offer horse drawn carriage rides, too!

Barns! Barns! Barns!

Nothing says Colorado style like a dressed up barn. We are fortunate to live in an area with so many event venues that feature them. Though the barns at Crooked Willow Farms in Larkspur, Colorado, really stand out. We particularly love the red barns and bright white fence that outlines the property. (Interesting note…they also have camels and a big pig named Lola who gets to eat produce the scraps from the events!)

All of the venues mentioned in this article have lovely barns on site. They all have multiple wedding ceremony sites, too. If you are organizing a wedding or event and want that Colorado style, then look no further.
